A joint team from the World Bank, Association of African Universities ( AAU) and the National Universities Commission ( NUC) has visited the Africa Centre of Excellence for Mycotoxin and Food Safety( ACEMFS), Federal University of Technology, Minna for verification purpose.

The team paid a courtesy visit to the University Management on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Council Chambers, Main Campus.

Technical Assistant to the Project Manager of ACE Impact project, Irene Dufie Addai, who led the team said they were in the University to verify the installed advanced digital infrastructure recently provided to the University by the Nigeria Research and Education Network (NgREN).

Ms Addai said the digital infrastructure has been provided under the Disbursement Linked Indicator DLI 7.6 to enhance advance research and sharing across the regions.

The Center Leader ACEMFS, Prof. Hussaini Makun while giving a brief introduction disclosed that the centre has brought to the University 1 Gigabyte Internet bandwidth which will improve internet quality, 10 Interactive flat panel displays, e-library access to MATLAB, Anti-plagarism and high performance computing systems which the team had come to verify.

The Vice-Chancellor, FUT, Minna, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta welcomed and thanked the team for their visit. He assured of Managements continuous support to the project, especially as it has internationalised the University Prof. Kuta assured that all the observations made by the experts would be taken seriously with noticeable improvements in a short time.

The VC expressed hope that at the end of the project, there would be continuity or the establishment of a similar one in the University.

Earlier, the team visited the University’s server room where the 1Gigabyte bandwidth is terminated for distribution across the institution The team thereafter inspected the University’s e- Library and where they accessed PROQUEST, one of the platforms of e-resources which allows students to have access to reference materials.
