As part of its ongoing intervention programmes on infrastructural development in the federal tertiary institutions, the Federal Government has handed over a 1.25km road which was constructed by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to the Federal University of Technology Minna.

Speaking on Friday, January 27, 2023 during the brief after the hand over ceremony at the site, adjacent to the University’s Sports Complex, Main Campus, Gidan Kwano, the Hon. Minister, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, represented by the Federal Controller in the Ministry in charge of Niger State, Engr. Moshood Adekunle Samotu, disclosed that the Federal Government, through the Ministry, had embarked on the construction and reconstruction of a total of 83 internal roads in various federal tertiary institutions across the country over the last one year, among which 64 were successfully completed while works are currently ongoing in the remaining 19.

The Minister who described the development as a critical intervention to support education in the University, further emphasised that the quality of infrastructure and learning environment is proportionate to the quality of education acquired by the students.

Mr. Fashola also expressed hope that the project would be judiciously utilised.

Earlier in his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta who expressed appreciation to the donor stressed that the importance of road networks in a University cannot be over emphasized, adding that the gesture would not only facilitate movements from one point to the other but also ease the governance of the system.

He thanked the Ministry for the intervention and called for more of such gesture. The road links the University Sports Complex, Clinic, Students’ Affairs Division, the School of Innovative Technology and the students’ hostels amongst others
