About Us

DCAL was established to provide a platform to seek, cultivate and administer opportunities for collaborations, Affiliations and Linkages with other institutions, agencies, and corporate bodies of both national and international contexts while facilitating internalization of the University’s activities. Mandates of the Directorate includes amongst others as following:

  1. Building the University’s profile nationally and internationally through partnering with high profile institutions.
  2. Contributing to the University’s reputation through strengthened capacity development, research and community development collaboration.
  3. Facilitating engagements where the existence of a formal agreement is required.
  4. To also provide support, advice and assistance to the academic and administrative units of the University to facilitate internalization in their respective spheres.

Brief History of DCAL

The Directorate for Collaborations, Affiliations and Linkages (DCAL) was first created as Directorate for Collaboration and External Linkages (CEL) and Affiliation and Local Linkages (ALL) by the University management on 1st September, 2006. They were both fused and called Directorate for Collaborations, Affiliations and Linkages (DCAL) in January, 2008. The fusion became necessary due to the University’s quest for improvement in its service delivery via enhanced skills acquisition by members of staff and students, the expansion of her revenue base and better global recognition of her activities through internalization

Mission

To identify and develop quality internal and external partnership that facilitates the attainment of the University’s developmental objectives.

Vision

The vision of DCAL is of a unit strategically placed to enhance the University service delivery in teaching, research and Community service.

Johnson Olusegun OYERO

Johnson Olusegun OYERO, is a Professor of Water Resources, Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology. Prof. Oyero started his academic carrier in the Federal University of Technology, Minna in 1991 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Water Resources, Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology, School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT). He rose through the ranks to become a professor of Water Resources, Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology in 2016. His dedication to duty and painstaking research over the past 30 years has culminated in his significant contributions in the areas of fisheries management, fish post-harvest loss technology and fish utilization cum marketing. He has held several positions of responsibilities in the University such as; members, University Governing Council 2009 -2013, Ceremonies Committee, FUT, Minna Sports Committee and later Chairman between 2007-2012. He is the immediate past Chairman, Campus Radio Management Board, currently the Director, Directorate for Collaborations, Affiliations and Linkages of the University.He is an external examiner to several Universities in Nigeria, also, a consultant to many international organisations and State governments in Nigeria. He has supervised several students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is well published and cited in reputable high impact journals. He is a member, Fisheries Society of Nigeria, World Aquaculture Society, Association of Nigerian Fisheries Scientists
