Mr. Kolo is an indigene of Kpaki in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State. Kolo graduated from Bayero University, Kano with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science (Second Class Upper Division) in 1983 and obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Ibadan in 1991. He was born February 13, 1960, in Kpaki, attended L.E.A. Primary School, Kpaki between 1966 and 1973, Government Secondary School, Minna, 1973 – 1978 and Zungeru College of Advanced Studies, Bida, 1978 – 1980.
Mr. Kolo started his working career as a Range Management Assistant in the Niger State Ministry of Agriculture in 1978, serving as the administrative head of Agaie Area Office.He worked as an Administrative Officer, Personnel Department of the Directorate of Military Intelligence, Lagos during the mandatory National Youth Service from 1983 to 1984 after which he returned to Niger State and joined the Ministry of Education in 1984 as Education Officer VII and left in 1992 as Education Officer V.
His career in the University started in 1992 when he was employed as an Assistant Registrar in the Academic Office. With hard work, dedication and perseverance, he rose through the ranks to attain the peak of his career.
In the last 26 years, he has also held the following positions in the University: Assistant Registrar, World Bank Project Implementation Unit (1993); Secretary, School of Science and Science Education (1993) – 1994); Secretary, School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (1994 – 1999); Senior Assistant Registrar, Academic Office (1999 – 2004); Principal Assistant Registrar, Academic Office (2004 – 2008); Principal Assistant Registrar, Central Administration (2008 – 2009); Principal Assistant Registrar and Secretary, School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (2012); Principal Assistant Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, 2012; Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office (2013 – 2014); Deputy Registrar, Establishment (2014 – 2017). He has served in more than 40 committees in the University and has attended many training workshops and conferences within and outside the country.
A fellow, of the Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators (IICA). Mr. Kolo is also a member of the Association of Nigeria University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).
