Civil Engineering Department

DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING is one of the departments in the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology, Federal University of Technology, Minna Nigeria. It is one of the first departments to be established in School of Engineering and Engineering Technology in 1986 and produced its first graduate in 1989. All areas of specialization including Geotechnics Engineering, Highway Engineering, Water and Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering and Project management, started simultaneously, the same year.

The Department offers Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.), Post graduate Diploma (PGD), Masters in Engineering (M. Eng.) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Civil Engineering.
The M.Eng and Ph.D programs in Civil Engineering are, for the main time, carried out on Geotechnics Engineering, Water and Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering and Highway Engineering.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES
The department holds it a priority to train its students in latest civil engineering software’s so as to keep them abreast with the latest engineering designs around the world. In order to achieve this, the department has a reputable software design studio well equipped with computers and required accessories to aid the teaching and training.
The department is also very conscious of laboratory practical’s and has made it a point of responsibility for all students to participate effectively in carrying out all the experiments necessary before graduation.

STAFF
The department has 23 academic staffs, 6 technologists and 2 administrative staffs. We also have some academic staffs on visit. Some of the staffs are on fellowship within and outside Nigeria. Some few of our academic staffs are on sabbatical.
