The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, officially commenced the construction of the Technology and Innovation Park, funded by TETFUND. The site handover ceremony took place on Tuesday, 16th July 2024, opposite the NITDA Complex on the Main Campus.
Prof. Kuta stated that the event marked the formal transfer of the site from the University to the contractor and consultant. He emphasized the project’s goal to commercialize research outputs and foster innovation. The park will feature a building with four rooms, offices, and a research product showcase area, ensuring prolonged protection of research outputs.
During the University’s convocation activities, the exhibition of research products will shift from the convocation square to the new technology park. The project is slated for a 32-week duration, with a completion target adjusted to January 31st to align with the convocation ceremony.
Prof. Kuta urged the contractor to ensure timely completion and highlighted that professional inspections will be conducted to maintain high-quality standards.
QS Amos Gida Mana of Progressive Global Construction Associate Limited, the company awarded the project, commended the Vice-Chancellor’s vision for the technology park. He noted the rigorous pre-qualification process and due diligence that led to their selection.
Project Manager Engr. Abeku Deri Mamman, an alumnus and Ph.D. student of the University , expressed gratitude and committed to delivering the project on time and to the highest standards, ensuring value for money.
