PHILOSOPHY
The Department of Water Resources, Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology was established to provide learning ground for high level manpower development for fisheries and aquaculture subsector of the agricultural sector of the economy. This is achievable through unequalled service delivery in training, research and community services that will add value to the challenges of food security in Nigeria, bridge the gap between supply and demand of fish and allied products in Nigeria economy and raise the nutritional status of an average Nigerian.
VISION
The vision of the Department of Water Resources Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology (WAFT) Federal University of Technology, Minna is to make the Department a centre of excellence in freshwater resources studies, research and development, through a multi- disciplinary practical approach to research, training (impart knowledge) on the development, utilization and conservation of Fisheries resources
MISSION
The Water Resources Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology, Minna programme at the Federal University of Technology was drawn up in full appreciation of the broad national objectives as well as the specific objectives enunciated in the various National Development plans, the requirements of the National Policy on Education and the minimum academic standard laid down by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The mission of the Water Resources Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology programme is to raise the creative capacities and capabilities of the students so as to enable them explore and effectively transform Water and Fisheries resources of their environment into high quality goods and services.
The deliberate orientation of the programme towards production technology implies a pragmatic application of scientific and technological knowledge as well as raising the level of organizational efficiency towards creating tools for optimum production.
