The Career Development Centre (CDC) of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) has hosted a one-day workshop/webinar aimed at equipping graduating students with essential skills for the 21st-century job market. The event, held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the NCC Hall, Main Campus, focused on resume writing, LinkedIn profile optimization, job search strategies, and interview skills.
In her opening remarks, the Director of CDC, Prof. Caroline O. Alenoghena, expressed gratitude to the University Management for its continuous support. She encouraged students to embrace volunteerism as a means of gaining experience and developing essential workplace skills. She emphasized the importance of excellence in all endeavors, stating that outstanding performance attracts opportunities.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Bashir O. Ganiyu, commended CDC for its commitment to career development and acknowledged the resource persons for sharing valuable insights. He urged students to pay attention and apply the knowledge gained to their career paths.
Delivering a presentation on Resume Writing and LinkedIn Optimization, Engr. Abdullahi Bankole, a Senior Data/Product Analyst at Maikano International Limited, stressed the need for tailored resumes instead of generic applications. He highlighted the importance of an optimized LinkedIn profile in attracting recruiters and advised students to showcase their achievements and experiences effectively.
The second speaker, Mrs. Racheal Iheanacho, a Human Resource Professional, discussed interview skills and workplace success. She emphasized the need for effective communication and adaptability in professional settings while outlining common interview mistakes to avoid. She also underscored the importance of continuous learning and professional growth.
