Advancement Office

With the rapid increase in the costs associated with higher education, there has been an ever-increasingpressure placed upon universities to raise funds for institutional support. The function of the Advancement Office is to seek financial support for the institutions vision and goals. This is usually achieved by building meaningful relationships with governments at all levels, alumni, friends of the University, Non-Governmental Organisations, corporations, trust and foundations among others. The office therefore serves as a high-level Centre for generating and coordinating developmental programs in the university. The Advancement and Development Office (ADO) was established in January, 2008 and later renamed the Advancement Office (AO) in March, 2020 with the mission to create a sense of proprietary pride in the university by all its stakeholders; and to establish corporate and private sources of funding for its pursuit of the higher standard in teaching, research and services, as well as in the maintenance of the best university tradition of scholarly integrity and independence.

University Advancement leads an integrated and collaborative effort to secure philanthropic investment in the University’s strategic goals, its programs and students; build and nurture relationships with its constituents; and develop, communicate and showcase the University’s curricular and academic excellence.

To achieve success and advance the University’s strategic plan, we seek to create the infrastructure to support philanthropic activity, inform our stakeholders, involve our partners, and inspire a culture of giving and investment to propel us to become a model public university of technology, nationally recognized for exceptional programs that prepare our diverse student body for academic and professional success.

Mandate
