About the Department

The Department of Educational Technology, domiciled in the School of Science and Technology Education (SSTE) at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, is committed to the preparation of innovative, professionally competent teachers equipped for the demands of contemporary educational practice. The Department’s philosophy is anchored in both the University’s Academic Brief and the National Policy on Education, with a clear focus on training scientifically knowledgeable and technologically skilled educators capable of meeting global best practices in Educational Technology.

Our programme delivers a rigorous curriculum leading to the award of B.Tech, PGD, M.Tech, and PhD degrees in Educational Technology. Graduates of the Department serve as professional teachers, instructional designers, educational media specialists, and e-learning developers across schools, universities, and the corporate sector, both within Nigeria and internationally. Committed to excellence in research and community engagement, the Department regularly develops and donates instructional materials to secondary schools, organises extramural lectures for students preparing for national examinations, and trains primary and secondary school teachers in instructional material improvisation.
