About the Department

The Department of Project Management Technology is one of the three departments in the School of Innovative Technology (SIT), Federal University of Technology, Minna. The department currently have a staff strength numbering twelve (12), comprising nine ( 9) academic staff and three (3) non-academic staff members. The department offers courses of instruction leading to the award of a Bachelor of Technology ( B.Tech.) degree. It also offers postgraduate courses leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma ( PGD), Master of  Technology (MTech), and Doctor of Philosophy ( Ph.D.) degree in Project Management. The student enrolment currently stands at 200 for undergraduate studies and 180 for post graduate studies.

Brief History of the Department:

The National Policy on Education (NPE) is hinged on the incubation of national consciousness and unity, inculcation of the right types of values and attitude for the survival of both the individual and the society, training of the mind in understanding of the world, and in acquisition of appropriate skills for national development.

The activities of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, are geared towards the achievement of above stated objective through training of skilled and innovative workforce capable of transforming Nigeria’s natural resources into goods and services by providing a complementary and holistic perspective to project conceptualization, planning, and execution with emphasis on Engineering and Technological Project Management.

It was with a view of actualizing this desire that the idea of the Department of Project Management Technology was conceived in 2018 at a School Board meeting of the defunct School of Entrepreneurship and Management Technology. After due processes, the programme (B.Tech. Project Management Technology) was officially approved by the University Senate in July, 2019.

To build and develop human capital to the highest level possible, through a pragmatic and dynamic training, research and development in the field of Project Management Technology to meet the growing demands of society that will stand the test of time and space.

Dr Chinedu Chimdi Adindu, is a male native of Umuosihe village, Etiti-Amavo autonomous community, Osisioma-Ngwa LGA, Abia State, Nigeria. He was born on 23rd March , 1966 to the family of late Nze Dennis Ezewoke Nnabugwu Adindu. He was educated at St Pauls Primary School Jenta, Jos , Eziama High School, Aba, Rivers State University of Science and Technology (Now, Rivers State University), Port- Harcourt, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and obtained respectively First School  Leaving Certificate, General Certificate of Education (O/L), Bachelor of Technology (BTech) honours in Quantity Surveying, Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Project Management Technology, and Doctor of Philisophy (PhD) in Management. He additionally obtained the Diploma in Statistics and Computer Application (DSCA) of the University of Nigeria. He is a Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (FNIQS), Registered Quantity Surveyor (RQS) of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN), Regular Member of the Association of Engineering, Project, and Production Management (AEPPM) of Lawrence, Kansas, USA, and Member, Association of Researchers in Construction Management (ARCOM) in the UK. His tertiary education teaching and research experience span over 16 years. He is well published in both local and international peer reviewed journals and has severally presented scholarly scientific papers in many local and international conferences.

Admission requirements

Admission into Project Management Technology programme is  through either the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or the Direct Entry (DE).

UTME Subjects

(i)      Holders of National Diploma (minimum of Lower Credit) in a relevant area of physical sciences, social sciences, engineering and management sciences may qualify for admission into 200 Level

(ii)    Holders of HSC/GCE A’ Level/IJMB with two passes in English Language, Mathematics, and other subjects from science or social sciences may qualify for admission into 200 Level

(iii)  Holders of HND with at least Lower Credit in a relevant area of Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering and Management Sciences may qualify for admission into 300 Level

Candidates must in addition meet the UTME ‘O’ Level requirements.

At least five credits at ‘O’ Level Credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, and Chemistry from NECO, WAEC or NABTEB, obtained at no more than two sittings. A pass in Biology is required.
