Dr. Katamba Abubakar Saka is one of the finest scholars in the field of Library and Information Science in Nigeria. He was born on February 12, 1969, he hails from Baro, Agaie Local Government Area of Niger State. He had his primary education at the L.E.A. Primary School, Bida from 1974 to 1979. He also attended Government Science Teachers’ College, Bida from 1979 to 1984.

Dr. Saka obtained the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from Niger State College of Education, Minna in 1990.  His quest for further studies took him to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1992 and graduated with a BSc. degree in Library and Information Science in 1997. He also holds a Master’s degree in Library Science from Bayero University, Kano. He bagged his PhD degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Maiduguri in 2014.

Dr. Saka joined the service of the Federal University of Technology, Minna in 2005 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Library and Information Technology and rose through the ranks to the position of Associate Professor in 2019.

Dr. Saka was the former Head of Department, Library and Information Technology, from 2015 to 2020. He was appointed as the University Librarian on March 18, 2021 by the Governing Council of the University.

He is a member of the Librarians’ Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and the Nigerian Association of Library and Information Science Educators. He is well-published in reputable local and international journals. He supervised many students at B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD levels.

Dr. Saka is happily married and blessed with children.
