The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, fsssn, while speaking during the brief ceremony commended Mr. Hammed Adewumi, CEO, Hamlanio Nigeria Ltd for their interest to help build student hostels to enable the University achieve her hostel accommodation objective.

Prof. Bala noted that the University is desirous of providing accommodation for her students and in spite of the limited resources and dwindling funding it initiated a programme of private hostel development whereby individual entrepreneurs will build, operate and transfer (BOT) hostels to the University upon mutually agreed terms and conditions.

The VC disclosed that the University’s specification is to have raised buildings but they will be the first to build sprawling building based on a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) model and being the trailblazers, the university bent to meet some of their needs.

The helmsman assured the company of the University’s commitment to ensure the project is successful and hoped for similar commitment from them based on the terms and agreement.

The CEO, Hamlalio while thanking the Vice-Chancellor for the opportunity given the company assured management that they would adhere to all the terms and conditions of the agreement.

The project consists construction of eight blocks of hostels of 20 rooms per block to accommodate a maximum of six students per room and is expected to be completed within a period of 18 months.
