visited the Federal University of Technology, Minna.

The visit took place on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room, Main Campus.

Mr. Osawaye while briefing the Vice-Chancellor of the University. Prof. Abdullahi Bala, fsssn, represented by the Dean, Postgraduate School, Prof. Matthew Kolo said the visit was in pursuance of collaboration with the University to have an international workshop, training and course in conjunction with NIESV, ESVARBON and the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.

According to him, there is a seriousness of the present government in the area of diversification of our economy and one of the quickest turn around product naturally given to us by the Almighty is our abundant reserves of mineral resources hence the need for us to go back to the business of growing the mining industry.

The Chairman disclosed that the synergy between NIESV and the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development is in terms of developing capacity in the practice, development and exploitation of our mines, mineral assets and steel industry hence the need for the international conference.

”We lack capacity among the professionals that are engaged in the field of valuation; we need to grow their competencies which will prevent foreign investors from importing human capital,“ he stressed.

Mr. Osawaye said Niger State was deemed fit for the international workshop because it is like an abstract of Nigeria comprising of various cultures, also because the Minister of Mines is from Niger State and charity begins at home. He pointed out that FUT, Minna was chosen as the certificate awarding university that will work with NIESV towards enhancing the competency of the Nigerian valuer to provide expert valuation services to the myrid of investors that are trying to gate crash into our economy to take a chunk of the mining industry we have opened our borders to.

He disclosed that the proposed date for the conference which is going to be the first of its kind is November and looked forward to the University hosting it.
Responding, the VC expressed appreciation for the honour given to the University, describing it as a welcome development.

The helmsman said collaboration is part of the University activity and will be delighted to host the workshop, while assuring them that the University has the capacity, resource and serene environment to host an international workshop of that magnitude.

The VC encouraged them to prepare very well for an impressive conference within the time frame so as to give a good first impression, adding that there is no doubt that the conference will be a pleasant outing with the credible members from the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, NIESV ESVARBON and Departments of Estate Management and Evaluation and Geology of FUT, Minna.
