Two final year students from the Department of Estate Management and Valuation, Federal University of Technology, Minna have made the University proud by winning the 4th quiz competition organised by the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV).
Speaking when he led the victorious students – Enwerem Precious and Alake Sheye – to present their trophy to the University Management in a brief ceremony today at the Senate Chamber, Main Campus, Gidan Kwano, the Dean, School of Environmental Technology, Prof. Remi Ebenezer Olagunju , disclosed that the students clinched the top prize at competition held during 51st anniversary and annual conference of NIESV in Abuja.
He further disclosed that the students who are both on the first class grade won the competition at the local, national and regional levels and were given a cash prize of 75,000 naira and the department was also given the same amount with a trophy.
Responding, the Vice – Chancellor, Prof Abdullahi Bala fsssn, after presenting the prizes to the students and their coach, congratulated the participants for the success.
He said that the Management felt the need to support the students’ participation in the event so that they will not lose out in the fun of attending such conferences.
Prof Bala further stated that the honour is not only to FUT,Minna but to their colleagues as well, adding that hearing the University’s name always being mentioned amongst the best universities actually reinforces any claim by the institution of being a leader and being the best.
The VC noted that the School of Environmental Technology is actually among the first in this session to bring laurels to the University. He urged the students to continue to maintain that feat as it is a pointer to other departments to put in their best and at the end the outcome will always be favourable.
