The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, fsssn, has called on members of the National Association of Niger State Students (NANISS) to establish their presence in the University through the acquisition of Secretariat, vehicles and other amenities.

The Vice-Chancellor made the call while responding to some of the demands made by the Association when they paid him a courtesy visit on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Council Chamber, Main Campus.

Prof. Bala observed that NANISS as a state-wide association has been intermingling with politicians cutting across the state and the nation at large but is unable to achieve any meaningful gain from the crop of politicians at its disposal.

The Vice-Chancellor went further to admonish the Association to always pursue great things like hostel structures, transportation as well as good opportunities. He therefore, urged them to always demand better and lasting largesse from the politicians rather than settling for little benefits.

The Vice-Chancellor observed further that NANNIS should see itself as a relevant stakeholder in the University, hence it should contribute towards, promoting the ideals of the University by enhancing development, peace and harmony in the institution.

On the issue of collection of due and other responsibilities, the VC affirmed that NANNISS is a registered and recognized Association within the University, as such it has the right to collect dues from its members and carryout all legitimate responsibilities within its purview.

He assured them that his doors and those of other principal officers are wide open to the association  for consultations and deliberations whenever the need arises.

Speaking earlier, the President of the Association, Comrade Mubarak Muhammad, said that arrangements are on top gear for the construction of the NANISS Secretariat on the Main Campus. He equally drew the attention of the University Management to issues of security, erection of sign post, their proposed skill acquisition programmes and some other demands.
