The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, fsssn, while declaring the programme open, welcomed the team to FUT, Minna, adding that the use of ICT in the institution has become a necessity and the main essence for the establishment of the University is to give effect to Nigeria’s desire in science and technology.

Prof. Bala said the training is important as it would help prepare members of staff to render quality services because ICT is the major tool used in the University by both staff and students.

The VC assured everyone that the training is going to be a continuous one and urged all participants to take the training serious because they are ambassadors of University.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, the team leader, DBI, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nzeih said the institute, which has been on for 11 years is a digital body that is fully accredited by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC). He added that, the training programme is also running in six other institutions across different states in Nigeria.

The team leader said for every time they came to FUT, Minna, they always enjoy the support of the Management, which shows the commitment of the Management in developing the staff.

Mr. Nzeih encouraged the participants to give their maximum cooperation and attention in order to have a rich training experience, as the University has done its own part and NCC is committed to training more staff.
He said the training will be in two parts - the internet and Microsoft office productivity tool training and the statistical package and science solution.

The representative of the Acting Director, ITS, Hajia Mairo Kanko in her welcome address appreciated DBI for considering FUT, Minna for the training and hoped that they continue to organise more of the training for the University staff.

She said the programme came at a very good time because all offices in FUT, Minna do their work online and the participants were selected from every department in the University, that is 55 participants for the statistical package and science solution and 50 participants for the internet and Microsoft office productivity tool, which makes it a total of 105 academic and non-academic staff members.

Hajia Mairo urged the participants to pay attention to the training, while she also expressed her appreciation to the Management for making it a success.

Still on the training, the VC at the closing ceremony, commended the participants and said that the University is proud of them for not only honoring the invitation but also honoring the University.

He added that there is still a lot more to learn and urged the participants to make it a duty to always put to practice everything they have learnt during the training.

He thanked the DBI team for coming and hoped that they would come around again.

In his remark, the Acting Director, ITS, Dr. Adamu Mohammed, thanked the participants for making training 100% attendance.

He also appreciated the VC for making sure that knowledge is being impacted on the staff and for deeming it fit to be a part of the ceremony.
