FUTMINNA SIGNS MOU WITH TASJ, MULTI MINERALS LTD

The MoU were signed today during a brief ceremony held at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, Main Campus.

Speaking at the event, the CEO of the two firms, Mrs. Titilayo Oyewole expressed appreciation to the University Management for giving the companies the opportunity to collaborate, adding that the MOUs would be fruitful based on the calibre of experts of the parties involved.

The CEO disclosed that the TASJ MoU would provide opportunities for students of the School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology as well as Agric and Bioresources Engineering Department to conduct research and undergo their SIWES programmes.

She assured the University Management that the companies would adhere with the tenets of the MoU while soliciting for the University’s support and cooperation.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdullahi Bala said the memoranda of understanding were in tune with the aspirations of the University not only in the area of partnership but also on how to scale up agricultural production on campus for the benefits of students and staff.

The VC disclosed that the MoU for the production of concrete blocks would enjoy immense patronage based on the massive building construction on-going in the University, saying that it would afford the contractors handling different projects on campus to get quality blocks within the University environment without hassle.

“This MoU is coming at the right time. Presently, we have the School of Life Sciences building on-going and very soon, work will commence for the School of Physical Sciences building. Then, the high impact fund projects will also follow suit. So, it will be a series of construction activities on the Campus. Therefore, the block industry will not only service the needs of the contractors directly; it will also reduce the cost of transportation and the time used in bringing the blocks from town to the Campus,” he stated.

The VC expressed optimism that the agreement would impact so many segments of the community and advised the companies to solicit the support of the host community by sponsoring some corporate social responsibility projects.

Earlier, the Director, Directorate of Collaborations, Affiliations and Linkages, Prof. Olusegun Oyero had briefed guests at the event on the contents of the MoUs while expressing confidence that it would be beneficial to both parties.
