DEPT OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP UNDERGOES NUC ACCREDITATION

Speaking on Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Main Campus, the Chairman of the team, Prof. Bayero Muhammed from Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto said they were in the institution to check the strength and weaknesses of the Entrepreneurship and Business Studies Department.

Prof. Muhammed disclosed that what the team requires is the minimum standard and once they have been met, full accreditation would be given.

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, fsssn, while receiving the team said Management is very committed in ensuring they had a hitch free assessment.

Presenting the team’s preliminary report, Prof. Muhammed expressed satisfaction with the curriculum, staffing, physical facilities and financing. He advised the department of the need to have a well-equipped on-campus skills acquisition centre while acknowledging their compliance with NUC guidelines.

A member of the team, Prof. Ellis Idemobi from Anambra State University, Uli in his observation noted that the staff of the department are concerned about the delisting of the School and advised that a lot of advocacy should be carried out to ensure that government does not press on with the policy.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bala commended the team for a through assignment within 24 hours.

He thanked them for their observations, adding that they would be looked into.

Prof. Bala disclosed that the department has not admitted students in the last two years because of the federal government policy on specialised universities not running management courses.

According to the VC, the issue of delisting has been of great concern to them and they are addressing the issue.
