luncheon amidst pomp and utmost gaiety.

The event took place at the former Vice-Chancellor’s residence, located at the famous Adewole Estate, Ilorin on Thursday, September 27, 2018.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Akanji commended the University’s contingent for honouring his invitation, adding that the athletes’ presence at his abode was significant proof of the fact that they still regard him as a friend.

I felt that it is necessary for us to see since you are in Ilorin,” he disclosed.

While wishing the contingent a safe trip to Minna, the former VC disclosed that his family was recently blessed with a new baby, noting that the gathering can be likened to a continuation of the naming ceremony party.

In his remarks, the Chairman, University Sports Committee, Dr. Rasheed Ojutiku applauded the former VC for hosting the team and for his well-documented contributions to the development of sports in the University during his tenure as Vice-Chancellor.

The Chairman prayed that Almighty Allah would continue to guide the former VC and his family, while affirming that the University’s Sports Committee would forever be grateful to him for giving sports its rightful place in FUT, Minna.
