SICT HOLDS 2ND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

The conference which was held from 4th-6th September, 2018 at the SICT Complex, Main Campus had many researchers and experts in attendance.

Speaking during the opening session of the Conference, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, fsssn, said the institution is always happy to play host to conference, adding that such conference enables researchers to disclose their findings to others as well as let people know what others are doing.

“FUT, Minna host nothing less than six international conferences every year and it is worthy to note that FUT, Minna is disseminating knowledge through these various conferences”, he stated.

The VC praised the LOC and the entire staff of the School of Information and Communication Technology for organizing the conference. He added that the theme of the conference would address contemporary issues of national importance. He urged participants to pay rapt attention to the various papers that would be presented at the conference.

In his remarks, the Dean, SICT, Prof. Nicholas Iwokagh thanked the University Management for their continuous support to the School.

The Dean stated that the theme of this year’s conference which is the first under his stewardship as Dean of the School, was carefully selected to reflect the desire of the organisers to encourage professionals and academics in the field of ICT to work together towards harnessing the benefits of ICT in proffering solutions to ICT related challenges that have militated against the sustainable development of the country.

Prof. Ikowagh disclosed that a total of 82 papers were accepted for the conference, out of which three papers are from undergraduate students of the School while revealing that three papers were also received from China and Malaysia.

He further assured the University Management, invited guests and participants that every session of the conference would be intellectually stimulating and engaging.
