Dr. Kolo made this known yesterday at a seminar organised by the School of Electrical Engineering and Technology (SEET) at the Chemical Engineering PTDF Lecture Hall where he gave an in-depth account of his four months (February to May 2014) experience during the spring 2014 MIT - ETT programme at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA.

According to him, the ETT programme which is offered by the MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives (MISTI) together with its corporate partners NNPC and Total E&P is a prestigious teaching fellowship programme that enables outstanding young Nigerian faculty in science and engineering to collaborate with faculty at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in developing new curriculum and teaching methods.

“The aim is to facilitate in African institutions improved teaching content development that is geared towards student-centred content delivery, problem solving and creativity,” he reiterated.

He further stated that MIT was founded in 1861 by William Barton Rogers as a mechanism of discovery and innovation.

On eligibility, he explained that young African faculty who is interested in developing new curriculum and teaching methods and who consider themselves to be change agents and faculty members holding a Ph.D and teaching in a department corresponding to electrical engineering and computer science, mechanical engineering or petroleum engineering at a university in Africa can visit:
